Around the world, campaigns are underway to promote the rights of young people running for public office by seeking to lower the legal age of candidacy, and bring it into line with the age at which you can vote.
In Nigeria, the #NotTooYoungtoRun campaign has embarked on a mission to address age discrimination in candidacy for the legislative and executive branches, and serves as inspiration for the global campaign. The campaign has been receiving mixed reactions.
While many applaud it, some see this as a succession plan arranged by political despots to facilitate the continuity of their grip to power through their sons. Others are also of the opinion that it lacks value since the youths are too poor to run.
Today on The Taste Of The Pudding, we shall be given insight into the campaign, its milestones and its ramifications. Have a pleasant listen. I am Idris Danladi for the rest of the team.
